•DEATHS: Mexico reported Thursday the single highest daily rise in its coronavirus death toll with a total of 1,803 deaths added. The North American country goes through the worst moment of the pandemic so far. The previous record daily rise in Mexico’s death toll occurred last Tuesday.
•CASES: Thursday was also the day with the highest increase in coronavirus cases in Mexico with 22,339 new confirmed infections. Since the beginning of December 2020, there has been an exponential growth in cases and deaths revealing a worsening situation.
•HOSPITALS: Hospital saturation across Mexico also remains dangerously high with a national bed occupancy of 60 percent per official data. Eight states are reporting bed occupancy above 70 percent: Mexico City, Guanajuato, State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Puebla, Nuevo Léon, Morelos and Nayarit.
•NUMBERS: As of late Sunday, Mexico has officially reported 1 million 711,283 coronavirus cases and 146,174 coronavirus deaths. Mexico is the fourth country in the world with the most coronavirus deaths in absolute terms.
