•LOSS: More than 88,000 people who were tested for coronavirus in Mexico will not get their results mainly because tests did not arrive at a certified laboratory or because their samples were damaged in some form, Mexican health authorities confirmed Sunday.

•NUMBERS: As of late Sunday, Mexico has officially reported 730,317 coronavirus cases and 76,430 deaths. Mexico City accounts for a 16% share of total confirmed cases. Other 857,958 people in Mexico  have tested negative since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

•REGISTRY: “We will not be able to have a positive or negative result anymore due to different causes”, Mexico’s epidemiology chief José Luis Alomía said. “We have the information of these people and we know…that they are people who had symptoms of a respiratory disease”.

•CAUSES: The main causes for lost tests is that samples had to travel for days to get to a laboratory which caused some to expire while others were kept under inadequate temperatures. Mexico has one of the lowest testing in the world with 70 tests per million people, according to Our World in Data.
