• MAJORITY: Sixty-nine percent of Mexicans say that a victory of presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden in the upcoming US presidential election would be better for Mexico over the reelection of President Donald Trump , according to a new poll released by Mexico City’s Reforma newspaper.

• TRUMP: Days after President Andrés Manuel López Obrador paid an official visit to the White House, only 11% of Mexicans say that a Trump reelection would be better for Mexico. Moreover, 52% of Mexicans think that López Obrador’s visit will benefit Trump’s reelection in November.

• VISIT: Overall, a majority of Mexicans (64%) support López Obrador’s decision to travel to Washington to visit Trump and only 30% of the public reject it. However, 45% of Mexicans believe that Trump has continued using an offensive tone against Mexico during the past few months.

• USMCA: Just days after its entry into force on July 1, an overwhelming majority of Mexicans (75%) believe that the new trade agreement between the US, Mexico and Canada (USMCA) will benefit Mexico. Reforma’s poll was conducted via phone among 400 adults between July 9-11.
