• SUMMER: Delta will resume flying to Mexico’s most popular resorts in June after suspending several routes due to the coronavirus outbreak. Delta said it will resume its daily route from Atlanta to Cancún and its less than daily routes from Los Angeles to Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta.
• CARRIERS: As it happened domestically and with other international destinations, US air carriers reduced their services to Mexican airports starting in March. Due to travel restrictions and Mexico’s lockdown orders, Delta made further cuts in mid-May except for its Atlanta to Mexico City route.
• DEMAND: “Delta’s summer schedule continues to be shaped by customer demand, CDC (Centers for Disease Control) guidelines and government travel regulations”, said Delta today. The airline said face coverings would be mandatory along with customer spacing and deeper cleaning procedures.
• REOPENING: Cancún, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta will begin a phased-in reopening in June after developing new hygiene protocols. Other Delta routes resuming in the summer are the daily service from Salt Lake City to Mexico City and the less than daily service from Detroit to Mexico City.
