• FASTER: Venture capital investment in startup companies located in the western state of Jalisco is growing at a faster annual pace compared to other business poles like Mexico City and Nuevo León, according to data gathered by the Mexican Association of Private Capital (AMEXCAP).

• DATA: Preliminary data for the first then months of 2019 shows that VC investment in Jalisco grew at at 14% rate in 2019 when compared to 2018. This rate is faster than Mexico City’s (9.8% annual growth) and that of Nuevo León (6.5% annual growth). Experts see a better market ecosystem.

• VIABLE: “It was very difficult to find a project that fulfilled the investment thesis, which was to look for something that already had some traction…a viable market product…Now fortunately there is much to choose from”, said Rodrigo Ramírez from the Guadalajara Angel Investor Network (GAIN).

• CENTER: Even with the fastest growth, Mexico City remains the center for venture capital investment in Mexico with almost 80% of total investment during 2019 (USD 1.04 billion) while Jalisco only housed 5.3% of total (USD 70 million) showing there’s enough room to catch up.
