Mexico makes arrests in massacre probe

• SUSPECTS: Mexican authorities have already arrested an unknown number of suspects in the investigation of last week’s massacre in Northern Mexico where 3 women and 6 children of the LeBaron family were killed, according to Mexican Public Security Minister, Alfonso Durazo.

• GANGS: Given that the investigation being formally under the Sonora state government, Durazo avoided giving more details regarding the number, identities and gangs to which they may belong but said that the US agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are already helping Mexico.

• RECIPROCITY: “The US Government has given us all the help in the case of the investigation of the El Paso massacre and in reciprocity we are corresponding so that they have all the facilities and access to the information regarding to the tragedy of the LeBaron family”, said Durazo today.

• FLEEING: Right after the aftermath, the Mormon colony the LeBaron family belonged -both in Sonora and in Chihuahua- had asked about the FBI to be involved; this past week at least 80 members from the Sonora community crossed the border to Arizona after the funeral for the victims.
