• DREAM Having a direct flight between Mexico’s second largest city, Guadalajara, and a city in China is something feasible given the large Chinese investments that are expected to land in the coming months in this western state, according to a local official

• LANDING Without naming them, Jalisco’s Secretary for Economic Development, Ernesto Sánchez Proal, announced that 5 Chinese firms would be making a total of USD 556 million in telecoms and electric car projects. He also said that 7 other Chinese firms are interested in investing in Jalisco.

• SHENZHEN “Ideally, it would be a direct flight. I would propose that it be from Shenzhen to Guadalajara. We’ll be reviewing this with the indicated companies”, says Sánchez Proal. The only direct flight between Mexico and China is Hainan Airlines flight between Tijuana and Beijing.

• HALT Just this past July, México’s Aeromexico cancelled its direct flight between Tijuana and Shanghai-Pudong. This three flights-a-week service was in operation for 11 years. According to Aeromexico, its Dreamliner 787 will now fly between Mexico City and Barcelona.
