•VACCINES: Mexican authorities seized Wednesday what they said was a batch of 5,755 doses of Russia’s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine found inside a private plane at an airport in southern Mexico that was destined for Honduras. The Russian Direct Investment Fund argues the vaccines were not authentic.
•HIDDEN: During an inspection of an aircraft at the Campeche International Airport, Mexican customs and military personnel discovered two coolers with 1,155 jars of the Russian vaccine hidden between soft drinks and sweets. The passengers and crew were all Hondurans and were arrested.
•FAKE: “Analysis of the photographs of the seized batch, including the design of containers and labels, suggests that it is a fake substance which has nothing to do with the original vaccine”, said the RFID which markets the vaccine. “This is an example of possible provocations against Sputnik V”.
•NUMBERS: Mexico has received a total of 400,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine and has already started applying it on older adults. Meanwhile, Honduras has approved the Sputnik V vaccine and announced the purchase of 4.2 million doses that were expected to arrive at the end of March.
