• FUNDS: The brother of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) received envelopes of cash in 2015 for alleged campaign purposes from a close associate to the then Chiapas state Governor, according to videos leaked to Latinus, a Mexican online news outlet.
• BROTHER: Active in local politics in the southern state of Chiapas, Pío López Obrador is one of seven siblings of the current Mexican President. The videos showing the President’s brother receiving envelopes with money -equivalent to approximately US $100,000- from David León, until recently a high level official in the López Obrador administration.
• SUPPORT: “Between November 2013 and November 2018, I was a consultant, not a public servant. My way of supporting the (López Obrador) movement was to collect resources among acquaintances to hold assemblies and other activities”, said David León yesterday via his Twitter account.
• SEASON: These new revelations involving the President’s brother come just one day after another set of bombshell corruption allegations presented against 16 former high level Mexican politicians including former President Enrique Peña Nieto. López Obrador arrived in power in 2018 under the banner of fighting corruption.
