• CONTAGION: Health authorities in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur denied that a group of University of Texas (UT) spring breakers, that tested positive for coronavirus, got infected while visiting the resort town of Cabo San Lucas given that the incubation period had passed.
• STATEMENT: On Tuesday, Austin city authorities said that 28 young adults had tested positive for coronavirus after arriving from spring break in Cabo. However, both the Ministry of Health of Baja California Sur and the Los Cabos Tourism Board denied infection took place while in Cabo.
• INCUBATION: “We would like to point out that the young people left this destination on March 11, 2020. Therefore, 20 days after their return to Austin, Texas, they had already surpassed the incubation period established by the World Health Organization (WHO)”, said the Board.
• WORKERS: Moreover, state authorities said none the workers in the resort where the UT students stayed while in Cabo had presented symptoms for coronavirus. However, an airport official in Austin told KVUE station that the trip had taken place between March 14 and 19.
