• GROWTH: The Mexican government reported Monday that the confirmed number of people infected with coronavirus reached a total of 82. Only 13% of the coronavirus cases in Mexico have required hospitalization, and no deaths have been reported.
• MILD: “We have a total of 82 confirmed cases, and almost 90% of the cases have mild symptoms. They can return to their homes under the general care recommended by a healthcare specialist”, said Hugo López Gatell, Mexico’s undersecretary of health.
• MEASURES: Starting today, schools in at least 6 states (Tlaxcala, Tamaulipas, Yucatán, Jalisco, Guanajuato, and Nuevo León) will shut down until April 20th, as a mitigation measure against coronavirus. Originally, the Mexican federal government had advised the shutdown to begin on Friday.
• NON-STOP: Meanwhile, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said he will continue with his public events across the country in the coming days until health specialists tell him to stop. The Mexican healthcare sector has warned the country will enter a stronger contagion phase.
