• QUARTER: Only one in four Mexicans (25%) is so far worried about the global coronavirus outbreak but in contrast, a majority of them (54%) believes that the country’s healthcare system is not ready to deal with it, according to a new poll by Mexico City’s Reforma newspaper.
• CONFIRMED: With only seven confirmed cases and no deaths until now, 56% of Mexicans is confident that the López Obrador administration is taking the right decisions to deal with it, says the survey conducted via telephone between March 4 and March 6.
• CONTACTS: Yesterday, Mexican health authorities said that 177 people who were in contact with the seven confirmed cases of coronavirus were not presenting any symptoms. The also stressed that so far they have not detected any transmission within the country.
• NOTICE: On Tuesday, the US Embassy in Mexico City published a public notice advising US citizens of the global public health threat of coronavirus. So far, US authorities have not set up any travel restriction for Mexico. In the US, there are more than 1,000 confirmed cases.
