• INCOME: Two-thirds of Mexicans (66 percent) say they have seen their income hurt, either their own or that of a close family member, by the coronavirus downturn, according to a new joint survey conducted by Reforma newspaper and México Cómo Vamos, a think tank in Mexico City.

 

• BLOW: The new poll shows that 23 percent of Mexicans say they have suffered a pay cut or income reduction, while 24 percent say a close family member has experienced it. Moreover, 19 percent of Mexicans that both themselves and their relatives have seen their income decline.

 

• DETERIORATION: “The survey records a significant deterioration of family income. Yet, there are also shared views regarding what the (Mexican) government should do to begin to solve (the country’s) economic problems”, Reforma’s poll department said Tuesday

 

• VIEWS: Almost all Mexicans (90 percent) say they agree with an unemployment insurance, currently non-existent at the national level. A vast majority (81 percent) says they agree in offering financing both to the private and the informal sectors. The survey was conducted in person among 1,200 Mexican adults.
