• TESTING: Four months since Mexico recorded its first case, president Andrés Manuel López Obrador has never been tested for the coronavirus despite some members of his cabinet having tested positive in recent weeks, Mexican health authorities confirmed.
• CABINET: Just last Thursday, Mexico’s Finance Minister was the latest in a string of high ranking Mexican officials announcing they have been tested positive for coronavirus. Despite meeting with his Finance Minister the previous Monday, López Obrador has not been tested.
• CONTACT: “None so far. And me neither by the way”, said Hugo López-Gatell, Mexico’s health official in charge of coronavirus response when asked whether López Obrador had taken the test. “The reason is that we have not been identified as part of a case contact system”.
• TRAVEL: As of late Sunday, Mexico has officially reported more than 216,000 coronavirus cases including the heads of Mexico’s Social Security Institute and the Public Administration Ministry. AMLO is expected to meet US President Donald Trump in the coming weeks.
