• NEW PHASE: Half of states in Mexico have seen significant increases in mobility since the country entered a phased-in reopening of daily activities on June 1st, authorities reported. Mexico is the seventh country in the world with the most deaths stemming from the coronavirus pandemic.
• NUMBERS: As of late Tuesday, Mexico has officially reported 154,863 coronavirus cases and 18,310 deaths. Mexico City accounts for a 24% share of total confirmed cases. The neighboring state of State of Mexico follows in second place with a 15% share of cases.
• MOBILITY: “Starting on June 1, a more important increase in mobility has been observed”, said Ricardo Cortés Alcalá. “In the state Aguascalientes of we see a fairly increased mobility and this may be linked to the start of essential activities, including transport equipment manufacturing”.
• STATES: Aguascalientes is the seat of a Nissan auto plant. The rest states with a spike in mobility are Baja California Sur, Colima, Baja California, Zacatecas, Durango, Hidalgo, Tabasco, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Sonora, Michoacán, Tamaulipas, Guanajuato, Nuevo León and Yucatán.
