• MUNICIPALITIES: A collection of 300 municipalities across Mexico is under consideration for the reopening of activities and the economy given the local evolution of the coronavirus pandemic there, Mexico’s Minister of Health, Jorge Alcocer, said today. An exact date has yet to be decided.

• NUMBERS: As of late Sunday, Mexico has officially reported 35,022 coronavirus cases and 3,465 deaths. Mexico City accounts for approximately a 27% share of total confirmed cases. The neighboring state, State of Mexico, follows in second place with a 17% share of cases.

• REOPENING: “The trajectory of the epidemic -and we are still in the difficult part of it all- has been one of good results. And we do not want to lose those good results”, said Alcocer today after a cabinet meeting in Mexico City. The total number of municipalities in Mexico is 2,457.

• PEAK: According to projections by Mexican health authorities, several areas are currently at their pandemic peaks with particular concern over the Mexico City metro area, the Caribbean resort of Cancún, the border city of Tijuana, the northwestern city of Culiacán and the southeastern city of Villahermosa.
