• SATURATED: Mexico’s private hospitals are already feeling the strain of the growing cases of coronavirus patients around the country, according to industry sources. Private hospitals in at least three states -Mexico City, Puebla and Chihuahua- already report lack of bed space
• NUMBERS: As of late Thursday, Mexico has officially reported 19,224 coronavirus cases and 1,859 deaths. Mexico City accounts for approximately a 27% share of the total confirmed cases. The neighboring state, State of Mexico, is number two in total confirmed cases, with a 16% share
• VENTILATORS: “Most of all there are limitations in the number of ventilators. I know that private hospitals are making efforts to… We are exploring many possibilities and China is one of them”, said Mario González Ulloa, president of Mexico’s association of private hospitals.
• MEXICO CITY: In the country’s capital, the most prestigious private hospitals including ABC Observatorio, Hospital Español, Médica Sur and Ángeles are already reporting insufficient space to deal with the outbreak; according to industry, there are only 82 beds left for coronavirus patients.
