• DEATHS: Mexico’s military reported a total of 117 confirmed coronavirus cases detected in military health systems along with 5 confirmed deaths. The Mexican Army and Air Force Ministry (SEDENA) reported 82 cases and 4 deaths while the Mexican Navy reported 35 cases and 1 death.

• NUMBERS: As of late Thursday, Mexico has officially reported 11,633 coronavirus cases and 1,069 deaths. Mexico City accounts for approximately a 27% share of the total confirmed cases. The neighboring state, State of Mexico, is number two in total confirmed cases, with a 14% share.

• OPERATION: The Mexican military has deployed more than 20,000 troops to help civilian authorities across the country to deal with the coronavirus emergency. The vast majority (18,632) are Mexican Army and Air Force troops (SEDENA) and the rest is Mexican Navy personnel (SEMAR).

• RESPECT: “The nurses, the doctors are helping a lot. That’s why we all have to respect them, not attack them. On the contrary…we have to congratulate them. In the case of the armed forces the same for the sailors, the soldiers”, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said Friday.
