• REPEAT: The Italian-flag supply ship Remas was subject to a new attack by armed pirates off the Gulf coast of Tabasco last week, in what is now the second known incident against the Micoper’s vessel in five months, sources tell Reforma newspaper. Two sailors were injured in the robbery attempt.
• WAVE: Several ship operators have reported other attacks during the past weeks along Tabasco’s offshore oil and gas sphere. Sources told Reforma of at least three other ships attacked near the Dos Bocas port: Vanuatu-flag Achiever, Panama-flag Sapura 3500, and Mexico-flag Remington.
• FRUSTRATION: Workers from some of the affected companies told Reforma newspaper that they’ve reported the incidents to a unit of the Mexican Navy (a unit known as UNICAPAM) but that they have not been notified of further safety actions to prevent attacks in the future.
• CAMPECHE: At the same time, Dubai-based offshore vessel provider Telford Offshore also confirmed that its Telford 28 unit was attacked Tuesday, while anchored at Ciudad del Carmen in the neighboring state of Campeche, according to the specialized website Offshore Engineer.
