• DEATHS: Thirteen coronavirus deaths in the US border city of Ciudad Juárez are linked to an outbreak at the Lear Corporation’s maquiladora in the Rio Bravo industrial park, Mexican authorities confirmed. The Detroit-based automotive technology giant operates 10 facilities in Ciudad Juárez.

• AUTHORITIES: Humberto Campos, an official with Mexico’s Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), said that health authorities are tracking all Lear’s employees and family members to provide guidance. Lear Corporation’s plants in Ciudad Juárez produce seat systems and electronics.

• COMPANY: “We’ve learned of the hospitalization of some of our collaborators from our operations in Cd. Juárez and the regrettable death of several of them officially due to complications from respiratory conditions presumably linked to coronavirus outbreak”, Lear said over the weekend.

• CASES: Health authorities have confirmed 69 confirmed coronavirus cases and 16 deaths in the whole state of Chihuahua, where Ciudad Juárez is located. Workers have organized demonstrations for plants to suspend operations following the March 30 national health emergency declaration.
