• PROBLEM: The governor of Baja California, Jaime Bonilla, said he is worried about the number of health workers getting infected by coronavirus at some public hospitals run by the federal government in his state saying that doctors were “dropping like flies” in recent days.

• INSTITUTE: With 335 coronavirus cases and 22 deaths in his state, Bonilla said he had reports of a dire condition at nine public hospitals in his state run by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). Nationally, the IMSS has confirmed 329 workers infected by coronavirus.

• PERSONNEL: “This worries me more than ever (because) the doctors themselves are dropping like flies. Because they did not give them protection, now is the problem … (The IMSS) has not put the batteries, the IMSS did not apply”, said Bonilla today.

• NUMBERS: As of late Sunday, Mexico has officially reported 4,661 coronavirus cases and 296 deaths. Mexico City accounts for 28% share of the total confirmed cases. The neighboring state of State of Mexico is second place in number of total confirmed cases with an 11% share.
