• URGENT: Mexico’s main business lobby (CCE) publicly asked the federal government to urgently approve a tax relief plan that would postpone 6 months tax filing deadline day -marked for today March 31st- amid the global economic turmoil.
• MEASURES: With Mexico’s GDP outlook this year looking at a contraction of up to 7% according to JP Morgan, the Mexican private sector is looking to a fiscal relief package that would also allow paying taxes in 12 installments given the shutdown from the coronavirus emergency.
• EMPLOYMENT: “(We) do not ask for any kind of tax reduction”, the CCE said in a press release on Tuesday morning. “These measures will allow companies to have a minimum of necessary liquidity, in order to preserve sources of employment”.
• ANNOUNCEMENT: Earlier today, Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that his administration will present its economic package to deal with the economic crisis on Sunday April 5th. However, he discarded any special treatment for the private sector.
