• MEETING: Mexico’s General Health Council will be meeting on Monday night to assess the measures taken against the coronavirus outbreak including the government’s Saturday recommendation to a majority of 130 Mexicans to remain at home for one month.

• NUMBERS: As of late Sunday, Mexican health authorities had officially reported 993 confirmed coronavirus cases and a total of 20 deaths. Mexico City is the state with the most cases,196, followed by its next-door neighbor State of Mexico with 119 confirmed cases.

• WARNING: “Mexico City is the State most affected…also by its rate per 100,000 inhabitants. But also the (southeastern) State of Quintana Roo, which despite having less than 50 cases, its rate of incidence is similar”, said Ricardo Cortés, an official with Mexico’s Health Ministry.

• GOVERNORS: Over the weekend, the governors of two Mexican states -Hidalgo and Tabasco- tested positive for coronavirus. The Mexican Health Ministry said there was no need for President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to take the test despite having interacted recently with one of them.
