• FROZEN: The US Treasury designated Wednesday four Mexican companies linked to two closely aligned drug trafficking organizations -the Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) and Los Cuinis- as part of a major operation agains them that included more than 600 arrests in US territory.
• DRUGS: Allegedly having more than 100 methamphetamine labs in Mexico, the CJNG operations were at the heart of a law enforcement operation that included freezing the assets of four companies: a gas station company, a holding company, and two restaurant management companies.
• LAUNDER: “Making money is at the heart of drug trafficking, and by choking off their means to launder drug proceeds….[we’re] taking another step toward dismantling CJNG and associated organizations”, said Uttam Dhillon, acting head of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
• EXTRADITION: After five years in Mexican government custody, Rubén Oseguera González, the son of CJNG’s top leader Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, aka “El Mencho” was extradited from Mexico to the US to face criminal charges including drug trafficking; he was exonerated of charges in Mexico.
