Celaya: Suspicious car fire near National Guard's garrison

• FIRE: Authorities in the central state of Guanajuato are investigating a suspicious car fire near Mexico’s National Guard garrison in the manufacturing city of Celaya (pop. 494,000) which happened also very near to the city’s police command center known as the C4.

• EXPLOSION: Local media in Celaya cited witnesses hearing an explosion at a parking lot near the city’s fairgrounds just five minutes far from Honda Motors auto assembly plant. Celaya is at the center of a very violent organized crime groups that has left scores of dead in Guanajuato

• VEHICLE: “Aboard a van that he later abandoned due to alleged mechanical failure, a person arrived at a point near to Celaya’s C4 (Command Center) and the National Guard premises. Moments later there was a fire that only affected the structure of the vehicle”, said the National Guard.

• CARTEL: Just two days ago, federal and authorities arrested four key relevant members of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, a criminal organization whose original business was fuel theft. Among those arrested on Friday was a man only known as “El Miclo”, an alleged top lieutenant of the cartel.
