• KILLED: At least six women were found killed Sunday throughout Mexico despite massive protests across the country against gender violence. Two of these female victims were found in Guanajuato, the state in Central Mexico that reported the largest number of homicides in 2019

• TREND: Two of the five women murdered Saturday were found in the metropolitan area of León (pop. 1.7 million), the largest city in the state of Guanajuato. On of them was 23-year old Nadia Rodríguez Saro, a student who was shot in her car as she came back from a party.

• UNIVERSITY: “With pain and outrage, it’s ironic that we receive such terrible news on the day when women in our country have come together to shout no more violence against women”, said Felipe Espinosa Torres, president of the Iberoamericana University in León where Rodriguez Saro studied.

• CASES: Other murder cases included: a 16-year old girl was shot in the Gulf Coast state of Veracruz, a woman shot in the Caribbean state of Quintana Roo, a woman shot in the western state of Michoacán and a woman was strangled in the central state of Puebla.
