• DEATH: The severed head of a Polish national who had gone missing last week was found lying outside a gourmet food shop, where he worked at an upscale neighborhood of Guadalajara, Mexico’s second-largest city, according to authorities in the western state of Jalisco.
• PROSECUTOR: According to Jalisco’s state Attorney General Office, the head of 38-year old, Mariusz Ledochowicz, was found alongside a threatening note at the Lomas del Valle district only five days after his family reported that he had not returned from work.
• CONDOLENCES: “We are deeply dismayed by the sensitive death of our colleague…He was someone very dear to everyone within the company. He was a gracious and responsible colleague who we will be missed dearly”, said gourmet food shop Almacén de Noé in a Facebook post.
• STATISTICS: The most recent estimates from the National Migration Institute (INM) show that the number of Polish nationals residing in Mexico was less than 1,000 in 2009. State authorities in Jalisco said Sunday they have already contacted Polish consular authorities regarding the case.
