• SALES: Among most sold cars in Mexico, the Kia Rio subcompact was the only car model that did not stumble in sales during 2019 due to the public’s perception of constant design innovation and very competitive financing options.

• PESQUERÍA: Assembled at the Korean automaker facility in the Pesquería municipality in the northern state of Nuevo León, domestic sales of the Kia Rio -both in its sedan and hatchback versions- were up 11.6% in 2019 reaching 36,700 units. Total Kia Motors sales in Mexico reached 95,500 units.

• EXPERTS: According to Gerardo San Román, analyst of JATO Dynamics Latin America, Kia Rio subcompact averaged a financing rate of 9.9% in 2019 while the industry’s overall average was 17%. Also, Kia Motors is able to introduce up to two design modifications within a year.

• US MARKET: Opened in 2016 after a USD 3 billion investment, Kia’s Pesquería facility is focused in exports to the US and Latin American market. Exports to the US of the Kia Rio in 2019 reached 36,100 -both in its sedan and hatchback versions- while in 2018 they were only 4,900.
