• GUERRERO: The Coahuila state government confirmed that eight alleged suspects presumably linked to the Cartel del Noreste gang were killed during a gun battle with police forces in the sparsely populated municipality of Guerrero which sits south of the Rio Grande river international border.

• ATTACKS: According to authorities, the suspects attacked police units at the Santa Teresa ranch where they found high caliber rifles and paraphernalia linking them to the Cartel del Noreste, which US law enforcement has identified CDN as one of several remnant factions of the Los Zetas drug cartel

• STRATEGIC: Geographically located right at juncture right in the middle between the cities of Piedras Negras in Coahuila and Nuevo Laredo in neighboring Tamaulipas state, the Guerrero municipality is a strategic point for criminal groups operating next to Maverick county, Texas

• VILLA UNION: On November 30th, Coahuila’s state authorities reported that the Cartel del Noreste gang launched a major attack against the small town of Villa Union, just 24 miles from Guerrero. Gun battles ensued and least 26 people were killed, according to the latest official count.
