• DEAD: At least 9 alleged organized crime members were killed during the three-day long gun battles between the Cartel del Noreste drug gang and state police offices in the border city of Nuevo Laredo, just across the Texas, authorities confirmed.

• CHAOS: According to local citizen reports, Nuevo Laredo (399,000 pop.) experienced the third day in a row of chaos with gun fights, vehicle chases and blockades as a response presumably by the Cartel del Noreste gang to state police operations.

• RESISTANCE: “What has been observed is that there is precisely a resistance to these (state police) operations that are being carried out”, said Luis Alberto Rodríguez, a spokesperson for the Tamaulipas state government on what caused the mayhem.

• WARNING: Just across the Texan city of Laredo, Nuevo Laredo is the main crossing point along the whole US-Mexico border for Mexican exports to the US via truck. The US Consulate has issued a travel alert asking citizens and US officials to shelter in place.
