• ARRESTS: Mexico’s Attorney General Office (FGR) said Monday that the total number of suspects it has arrested in connection to the November 4th massacre of nine Mormon women and children in the northern state of Sonora is now seven.
• SUSPECTS: Early in December, sources told Mexican media that authorities had arrested three suspects linked to a crime group known as “La Línea”. Last week, the mayor of Janos, a town in neighboring Chihuahua, confirmed the arrest of the local police chief in connection to the massacre.
• MEETING: Adrián LeBaron, father of one of the victims, said that the families have meeting scheduled with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on January 12 where presumably he’ll share more about the case. Earlier in December, the families already met with López Obrador.
• EXPECTATION: “I hope he doesn’t bring excuses but a solid investigation. The family wants answers and continue to rely on their ability to deal with the case sensitively”, said LeBaron, who has criticized the Mexican Attorney General Office for not giving families access to the probe.
