• RECORD: Mexico’s second largest low-cost airline, VivaAerobus, forecasts carrying 20% more passengers in in 2020 reaching a total number of 14.5 million via the opening of at least 15 new routes and the delivery of at least 4 larger Airbus A321neo aircraft.

• DOUBLE: The company’s forecast for 2020 would mean a doubling in the number of passengers transported in 2018 showcasing the double digit growth in the Mexican low-cost airline business; Mexico’s largest low-cast carrier is Volaris with 16.8 million passengers in 2018.

• EFFICIENCIES: “This bet is mainly to be more efficient and to offer our customers better rates”, said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of VivaAerobus, who explained that the new Airbus A321neo aircraft have almost 30% larger capacity than the Airbus A320 model it operates with today.

• LOW COST: VivaAerobus and Volaris had a combined share of 30% of total passenger traffic among Mexican airlines in October of this year, according to Mexican government’s data. Volaris is very close to top Aeroméxico as the Mexican airline with the most passengers
