• SURVEILLANCE: Mexico denounced Bolivia’s Government for what it called “increased police” harassment against the Mexican Embassy and its Ambassador’s residence in the Bolivian capital of La Paz where a group of at least nine former Cabinet members have sought political refuge.
• HARASSMENT: “The Government of Mexico reiterates its demand to the Plurinational State of Bolivia to comply with its international obligations, guarantee the inviolability of diplomatic missions and cease harassment and intimidation policy”, said the Mexican Foreign Ministry.
• GROUP: Since November 10 when former President Evo Morales left power alleging a coup, nine high-ranking officials have been holed up at the Mexican Ambassador’s residence including former Minister of the Presidency, Juan Ramon Quintana, who has been accused of sedition and terrorism
• IMPOSSIBLE: “I can say categorically that it is impossible for the police to enter the Mexican Embassy”, said Bolivan Foreign Minister, Karen Longaric, who shas warned that Mexico’s refusal to hand over the former officials would be a serious problem.
