• OPERATIVES: Mexico extradited 7 alleged operatives of several Mexican organized crime groups to the US during the past few days including one of the sons of the suspected leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, according to Mexican government sources.

• CHARGES: Facing drug charges in the US, those extradited include members of the Tijuana Cartel, the Beltrán Leyva Crtel, the Zetas, the Sinaloa Cartel among other organizations. The son of “El Mayo”, Ismael “El Mayito Gordo” Zambada-Imperial, will appear before a San Diego federal court.

• PROSECUTORS: Until now, Mexico’s Attorney General’s office (FGR) has not yet to comment on the extraditions. Almost three weeks ago, US Attorney General Bill Barr visited Mexico City where he had a meeting with Alejandro Gertz Manero, the Mexican AG.

• CYCLE: “There are extradition processes that have been ongoing since 2010, 2011. Some have been hampered by valid legal remedies, mostly review resources. Some have been closed, completed and that way extradition has finished”, said Security Minister Alfonso Durazo separately.
