• RECORD: Mexico’s tequila industry is on track to set a new annual record with 320 million liters produced between January and November this year already exceeding the 309 million liters of total production in 2018, according to Mexico’s Regulatory Tequila Council (CRT).

• EXPECTATIONS: “The figures we have practically exceeded what we had the previous year”, said Ramón González from CRT who added that exports also are up with 230 million liters produced in 2019 so far compared to the total 222 million liters of 2018.

• FASTEST: “Tequila is the fastest-growing of the major spirits categories, thanks to booming demand from its two key markets of Mexico and the US”, says a November report by Euromonitor, the market research firm, saying that there was still room to growth in the premium brands.

• EMPLOYMENT: On the employment side, the total number of personnel employed in the tequila industry reached a record number of 5,728 in 2018 a reflection of the expansion of the industry, according to a study co-authored by Mexico’s statistics agency (INEGI) this year.
