• PROTESTS: At a small town one hour south of the US border, dozens of people protested against the arrest of two men who Mexican authorities say are directly linked to the November 3 massacre of three women and six children in Northern Mexico arguing they are just scapegoats.
• JANOS: At an isolated corner of the Chihuahuan Desert, demonstrators protested in Janos (pop. 10,000) against the arrest of whom Mexican authorities told media during the weekend were members of La Línea gang (including its suspected local leader); Mexico announced three arrests on Sunday.
• INNOCENT: “We’re extremely convinced they are innocent. The proof is that we have the support of the entire municipality and people from surrounding municipalities…All agree on the same thing as this is nothing plus two scapegoats”, says Estefanía Hernández, daughter of one of the suspects.
• DOUBTS: One day after meeting with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, relatives of the victims from the LeBaron family advocated at the Mexican Senate for authorities to respect process and warning that people in Janos are telling them that the arrested men are actually innocent.
