• ARRESTS: Mexican authorities arrested Sunday at least three suspects linked to the November massacre of nine people in Northern Mexico including the alleged local boss of La Línea criminal gang in the town of Janos, sources tell REFORMA; the nine victims were both US and Mexican citizens.
• MEETING: Having detained previously one more suspect last month, the new arrests by Mexico’s Attorney General Office (FGR) come ahead of a visit to Mexico by US Attorney General, Bill Barr; the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) is helping Mexican authorities in the case.
• MESSAGE: “We live in a country that has lost respect for life, and has lost respect for life because it has lost the ability to feel”, said Adrián LeBaron during a public demonstration on Sunday. LeBaron is the father of Rhonita Miller, who along four of his children were killed in the Sonora massacre.
• MEETING: LeBaron and other victims’ relatives are expected to meet today with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador who has said he will provide information surrounding the probe but warned them publicly in not bringing civil society leaders who may engage in “political opportunism”.
