• ONE YEAR: Andrés Manuel López Obrador marked Sunday his one year as President of Mexico saying it will take one more year to accomplish his goal of substantively transforming the country amid a stagnant economy along with record numbers of homicides in 2019.

• TRANSFORMATION: “How much time will we need to consolidate this transformative work? I think that one more year. That is, in December 2020 the foundations for the construction of a new homeland will already be established”, said López Obrador on Sunday talking about his Government.

• POLL: One year into his six-year term, López Obrador remains popular with an approval rate of 68% among Mexicans, according to a new poll by REFORMA; despite his high approval numbers, at least 41% of Mexicans believe that the President has failed in dealing with security and violence.

• ACHIEVEMENTS: During a one hour and 40 minutes speech in Mexico City’s main square, López Obrador listed what he said were his main achievements of his one year in office: economic stability, the fight against corruption, the austerity program and new social programs.
