• PREMIUM BEER: The world’s largest brewing company, Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB-Inbev), says it has begun brewing Corona beer -long considered a symbol of Mexicans culture- outside of Mexican territory given its solid last quarter growth of 21.1% in earnings in some overseas markets.
• BRIGHT SPOT: Considering that the company’s overall earnings fell flat last quarter, AB-Inbev made sure on Friday to tout Corona’s global success during the same period linked directly to the brand’s growth in countries/regions like China, Western Europe and South Africa.
• SUPPLY: “Corona growth is such a scale that we’re beginning to have issues with the supply chain and we thought it would serve better our consumers if we brew it locally”, Carlos Brito, AB-InBev’s CEO said Friday recalling other premium brands like Stella Artois are brewed internationally.
• CENTURY OLD: Brewed for the first time in 1925 by Cervecería Modelo, Corona is one of Mexico’s most well known consumer brand and AB-Inbev promised on Friday that it will send a Mexican master brewer to supervise production at every location outside Mexico where it’s been made.
