• PROBE: The Mexican Government is investigating a spying ring allegedly run by former members of the previous federal Administration and that might have targeted more than 300 Mexican politicians, business leaders, Supreme Court justices and congressmen among others.

• BUSINESS: According to Government sources quoted by Grupo REFORMA, the probe was prompted by an anonymous allegation saying that two former Mexican officials Alberto Bazbaz and Alfredo Castillo may have been allegedly selling information for up to USD 78,000

• NO CHARGES: Presumably run from a building in the upscale Santa Fe neighborhood in Mexico City, Mexican sources revealed they have already seized equipment and audio files from the spying group although there were still no formal charges presented yet.

• TARGETS: Among the political figures that were targeted by the spying ring are: Beatriz Gutiérrez, wife of President of Mexico, Minister of the Interior Olga Sánchez Cordero, Chief of Staff for the President Alfonso Romo along with Octavio Romero, head of the state-owned oil company Pemex.
