• GAIN: In the middle of a job market slump, Mexico’s Government reported a total of 145,000 jobs created last month which according to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) would be the fourth largest number for any September ever recorded.
• BEST MONTH: According to REFORMA’s seasonally adjusted figures, jobs created in Mexico during September would be more than 58,000, the best monthly numbers since September 2018; yet, this follows a loss of more than 12,600 jobs in August 2019.
• REGIONAL DISCREPANCIES: States with the highest annual increase in job creation are: Campeche, Nayarit, Aguascalientes and Querétaro with annual rates higher than 6.0%. In contrast Guerrero experienced a negative annual job rate of 5.4%.
• EXPECTATIONS: Given the slowdown in the Mexican job market that began in mid-2018 -a year when the Government reported a total of 660,000 jobs created- private analysts surveyed by Mexico’s central bank estimated in September that the total job creation in 2019 will be 406,000.
