• HEAVY RAIN For a second time in the past few days, tropical storm Narda made landfall Monday night along Mexico’s Pacific Coast bringing torrential rain to Sinaloa state and forcing at least 2,017 people to sleep at temporary shelters all the way from Oaxaca to Jalisco.

• DEATH At least one man died due to water surge brought by Narda to Oaxaca’s Pacific Coast and five others remain uncounted for, according to Mexican authorities. In Jalisco state, local authorities reported the death of one man after fainting while arriving to his home in the coastal town of Yelapa.

• PROSPECT “Narda is expected to become a tropical depression by Tuesday evening…Moisture from Narda will spread northeastward across portions of the US Southern Plains for the next few days, enhancing rainfall and the threat for flash flooding”, says the US National Weather Service.

• VALLARTA The popular resort town of Puerto Vallarta (pop. 203,000) in Jalisco state suffered limited harm from Narda with the Cuale River overflowing at some points bringing down one chain bridge and damaging two water plants that supplies water some neighborhoods south of town.
