TAKING OVER Low cost airlines are now transporting more than half of Mexico’s domestic air passengers moving more than 15.5 million of the total 30.6 million people during the first seven months of 2019, according to new data released by the Ministry of Communication and Transport.

ANALYSIS: “For the first time in 2019 Volaris overtook the Aeromexico group as Mexico’s leading domestic airline….During 2018, approximately 1.1 million..took Volaris’ flights for the first time, and the airline expects to register a similar volume…in 2019”, says a report by Australia-based Centre for Aviation.
PER CAPITA When measured in airline trips per capita, Mexico and Perú are at number three in Latin America (0.7) and just behind Chile (3.0) and Colombia (0.8), This according to a estimates shared by the LATAM Airlines Group at a presentation in January 2019
