•Gender wage disparity in Mexico’s construction industry remains extremely high with women earning 36% less than men; trend follows big wage differences in other basic manufacturing industries including food production at 27%, according to the Mexican Government.

• LABOR FORCE More than 2 million women in Mexico work in basic manufacturing and construction earning an average daily salary of 325 pesos (USD 16.30) while 3.5 million men employed in the same sectors earn an average daily salary of 456 pesos (USD 22.87).
• INTERNATIONAL While overall Mexico is better ranked than the US in the OECD’s gender gap index, US wage disparity in basic manufacturing is less (around 23.4%) while in construction, US women earn more than men (3.8%).
